The Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid

"...applying this ingredient topically can help to restore suppleness and keep things juicy, plump and firm..."

Madeleine White, Founder of Juni

Hyaluronic acid (HA) sounds scary (and not like something you would particularly want to put on our skin), but it’s actually naturally occurring in our bodies, and an ingredient that we can all benefit from when applied topically.

HA as an ingredient in skincare and beauty products has massively grown in popularity over the past few years, and rightly so! Without sounding too science-y, here’s why…

Hydrated, healthy lips

HA is a humectant, which means it draws water to the skin and helps to prevent moisture loss – one molecule alone can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water.

Unfortunately, the production of HA within our bodies diminishes with age, so applying this ingredient topically can help to restore suppleness and keep things juicy, plump and firm – helping to soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles and increase the elasticity of our skin. All skin types and ages can benefit from using hyaluronic acid.

"The addition of botanical HA in our lipsticks will leave your lips feeling plump, comfortable and smooth, and improve the overall health of them."

Madeleine White, Founder of Juni
One of the first things I said to our chemist when we started discussing our Luxury Hydrating Lipstick formula was that I wanted it to contain botanical hyaluronic acid. This was because I had seen and felt the amazing benefits of this ingredient on my own skin and lips, and knew it would make all the difference to others suffering from chronically dehydrated lips. I also wanted to elevate our lipstick to be a skincare-makeup-hybrid.

The addition of botanical HA in our lipsticks will leave your lips feeling plump, comfortable and smooth, and improve the overall health of them. This, combined with the nutrient dense plant oils in our formula, targets both dry and dehydrated lips – resulting in the ultimate lipstick.
Our botanical HA has been derived from plants (not animals) and is natural rather than being produced synthetically in a lab. This means it’s vegan too, and of a very high quality.
It has a low molecular weight of between 80 – 1000 kDa (kilodaltons), so it is able to penetrate to the deeper levels of the skin, and has a lasting anti-wrinkle and regenerating effect.
